THE UPWARD CALL THE LEVITES Sunday, January 29, 2017
God chose the descendants of Abraham to become a nation, not because they were anything in themselves, but so that God could use them to teach the whole world by their lifestyle.
The Tribe of Levi was chosen to be the spiritual leaders and to make sure the holy things of God remained holy! Levi had three sons - Gershon, Kohath, and Merari. Gershonites = Protected and moved the articles of worship in the Tabernacle. Kohathites = Guarded the gates and took care of the “coverings” of the Tabernacle.
Merarites = Carried the stakes, poles, ropes and structure of the Tabernacle.
When Israel went through times of disobedience toward God, the Levites were the ones who stood for holiness. Malachi 2:4-6 1 Peter 1:13-16 Control your thoughts. Take life seriously. Put all your hope in Jesus. Live as obedient children.
Do not live according to lust or ignorance.
Finally - Be Holy for God is holy.

Jeremiah 29:5-11 - You have a hope and a future Romans 15:13 - That you may abound in hope. Your future should not be filled with despair, fear, terror, or hopelessness. FEAR NOT: THE PRESENT Sunday, January 15, 2017
    2 Timothy 1:7
As Spirit-filled and Spirit-led believers we are not called to fear, but called to live in power, love and a sound mind! Intuition = Awareness = Healthy Fear While we do not want to encourage dangerous living, we do want to encourage courageous living! John 11:20-21 - If only… John 11:23-24 - One of these days… Jesus is about “right now”! If you are continually wobbling between your past and your future you end up living from Fear to Fantasy or Nostalgia to Despair. John 16:33 Jesus wants you to have peace in this moment.

“Now Jabez was more honorable (Distinguished) than his brothers, and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, "Because I bore him in pain." And Jabez called on the God of Israel saying, "Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!" So God granted him what he requested.” 1 Chronicles 4:9-10 NKJV What do we know about Jabez? Genealogy of Judah and noted as “more honorable” One experience named him “Pain” or “To Cause Pain” He prayed, God heard him, and granted his request
One life circumstance attempted to define him and shape his legacy, but his response distinguished him from the rest. ~Nicole McLeod
What do we know about pain? Comes after sin and is part of the curse Not intended to last for eternity Ceases to exist when Christ returns and makes all things new Everyone experiences pain / suffering
What are the three questions we need to be able to answer?
“The beliefs we hold should hold us up even when life is falling apart.” Uninvited Book Is God Good? Is God Good to Me? Do I trust God to be God? “Who is this that obscures my plans with words without knowledge?” Job 38:2
The “squeeze” of pain will reveal if I truly believe that God is both Good and Good to Me. ~ Nicole McLeod
What to do with pain? “We can ignore even pleasure. But pain insists upon being attended to. God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our conscience, but shouts in our pains:
it is his megaphone to rouse a deaf world.
    C.S. Lewis
“Bless Me” | POSITION: Confidence, Seated with Him Enlarge My Territory | PURPOSE: Take Territory Keep Me From Evil | DESIGN: Light-Bearers
Work the ground of pain and suffering until it brings forth life! We are indeed subjected to the troubles of this world, but never without Hope. Through prayer we find the revelation that God can and will work all things out for Good. He is a Good God that is Good to us and we can and shall trust Him to be God, knowing that His ways are right and everlasting. ~Nicole McLeod

DEALING WITH DIFFICULT PEOPLE PART 2 Sunday, November 20, 2016
We are talking about how to “DEAL” with difficult people, not how to “respond” to them.
Last week we concluded with Romans 12:14-21 which gives us instructions on how to deal with difficult people. Bless Rejoice Weep Be humble No revenge Feed No bitterness
    Overcome with good
While I am confident this was beneficial to many; it is only half of the equation. The other half of the equation is knowing who you are! This is about identity. Luke 22:1-6 - Jesus had more than one difficult person in His life. Luke 22:31-34 - Jesus acknowledges that one of His closest followers would turn on Him. When Jesus finally arrives at a garden for a time of prayer, He prayed for one thing - That the will of God would be done in His life. While he was in this prayer meeting about His identity, Judas leads the soldiers to Jesus, and Judas gives Jesus what we refer to as the “kiss of betrayal.” The Gospel of John records that when the soldiers asked for Jesus, He said “I am He.” He spoke with such authority that the men fell down to the ground. I fear there are far too many people of God who are living in an identity crisis. People who are living in a spiritual identity crisis are those who do not know who they are in Christ, where they belong in the body, and what they are called to do in the Kingdom of God. They lack an identity with the Father and then take on an orphan spirit which is revealed through a life of endless searching and never finding. The question is, How can I find my identity? 1. Deny the values and influences of the world. 2. Find the presence of the Father and dwell in it. 3. Read His word and meditate on it.
    4. Find your name and live it boldly.

God’s desire is for us is to walk in peace. Hebrews 12:14 Romans 12:18 The key ingredient to making peace is found in a spirit of humility. Philippians 2: 3 James 3:17-18 While all this sounds nice what does this really look like. First, let me give you a few insights into the life of Saul so you can better understand why he was the way he was. He had no real relationship with God. He was insecure. He was distressed by spirits.
    He was resentful/jealous.
Do you see any of these traits in the difficult people in your life? I want to give you a few keys from the life of David that I think can help you. Worship - Distance - Honor - Romans 12:14-21 We are talking about “DEALING” with difficult people not how to “respond” to them. Bless Rejoice Weep Be humble No revenge Feed No bitterness
