Living In God’s Will – Faith That Works
FAITH THAT WORKS - 4 LIVING IN GOD’S WILL 4/24/2016 James 4:1-12 Talks about the people lusting, killing, fighting, and warring. Ultimately, James calls his audience, friends with the world and enemies of God. We have a Kingdom culture that is different from this world. As Kingdom people we choose to live according to
    God’s systems.
James 4:7-10 This is about submitting our will to God’s will, our plans to
God’s plans and our desires to God’s desire.
After submitting to God on one front there must be a
resisting of the devil on the other.
To resist is the push back, oppose, or refuse. It is through submitting that you have the power to resist. James 4:13-17 In the OT they would ask - How can I get a word from God? In the NT they would ask - How can I find the will of God?
Today we might ask - How can I find direction for my life?
Prayer is the powerful connector between the not knowing
    and the knowing.
We must be people of prayer! Sometimes what we want to do looks better then what
    God wants us to do.
Do the will of God anyway! The reward of obedience is worth the sacrifice of obedience.

FAITH THAT WORKS - 3 THE POWER OF OUR WORDS
    Sunday, April 17, 2016
In James chapter 3, he gives us a strong word on the power of the tongue. James 3:1-12 James likens the tongue to a: Bit in a horse’s mouth. Small rudder on a boat. A little fire.
    A deadly poison.
Proverbs 18:21 Do we speak life words or death words, words of hope or words of despair? Practical steps to protecting our language: Be careful WHO you interact with. Be careful WHAT you give attention too. Be careful WHERE you let your eyes linger.
Be careful HOW you mentally and emotionally process things.
Hebrews 11:3 God created with the spoken word. What are you creating with your language? James 3:13-18 James warns us against worldly wisdom and refers to it as: Wisdom that does not descend from above. Earthly wisdom. Sensual wisdom (according to the 5 senses). Demonic wisdom.
    Confusing and evil wisdom.
Finally, James reveals to us the beauty of Godly wisdom. Wisdom that comes from above is: Pure. Peaceable. Gentle. Willing to yield. Full of mercy. Full of Good fruit.
    Without partiality.
    Without hypocrisy.

The Royal Law – Faith That Works Series
FAITH THAT WORKS - 2 THE ROYAL LAW 4/10/2016 Chapter 2 of the Book of James is filled with more insight on the practical application of the Kingdom lifestyle. To understand the Kingdom you must understand the idea of a Kingship and Kingdom. Jesus is the King. The church is His domain We are His subjects. As subjects we are called to take territory and expand His dominion throughout the earth. James 2:8-9 - Royal Law A royal law is a law instituted by the King and meant to supersede all other laws. While Life Chapel has a culture of: Love, Grace, being Spirit-led, Order, Purity, Obedience, A Safe Place, Integrity, being a people of Praise, the Prophetic, and being Biblically-based. There is one word that covers them all and that is HONOR! Honor should be expressed in 3 ways: Up - Across - Down 1 Timothy 5:17 - Honor Up Who is above me that I struggle to honor but need to Honor? __________________________________________ Luke 4:20-22 - Honor AcrossWho is my equal that I struggle to honor but need to Honor? __________________________________________ 1 Corinthians 12:23 - Honor Down Who is below me that I struggle to honor but need to Honor? __________________________________________
Acts 10:34 - God shows no partiality

FAITH THAT WORKS - 1 GOD’S ANSWER TO YOUR TRIALS
    Sunday, April 3, 2016
As Billy Graham said, “Mountaintops are for views and inspiration, but fruit is grown in the valleys.” Many believe that James was the brother of Jesus who also became the Bishop of the Church in Jerusalem. It was only after the resurrection of Jesus that James, the bother of Jesus, became a believer. In James 1:1 we find who the letter was written to - the Jewish people who had faced great trials and persecution and fled the city of Jerusalem. We are going to break down James 1 into 2 parts. 1. Trials
    2. Our response to trials
James 1:2-8 We should see trials through the eyes of joy knowing they will produce, patience, perfection(maturity), prosperity(lacking nothing). If we lack wisdom, ask for it and God will give it to us in abundance and without reproach.
Don’t let your trials create a double-mindedness in your life.
James 1:19-20 3 qualities needed in trying times. Swift to hear. Slow to speak.
    Slow to wrath.
Trials can make us bitter or better. James 1:22 Just hearing the Word will never make us into the people we are called to be. We need to DO what we already know!!!

    The Key to Overcoming Pain
    THE KEY TO OVERCOMING PAIN
    Sunday, March 20, 2016
We are focusing on the last few hours of Christ's life on this earth. The paradox is that while they were brutal to Him they are a blessing to us. Hebrews 12:1-2 - Christ endured the cross
1 Peter 2:24 - Jesus gave His life that we may have life.
    1. Our endurance of hardship. There is not one person that has not felt the sting of the pain. All of our pain is directly or indirectly rooted in this little 3 letter word - SIN! That’s why Jesus came to this earth. 2. His endurance of the cross. God being born in the flesh was not a Plan B. Revelation 13:8 tells us that Christ was slain from the foundation of the world. When we walk through the final hours of Jesus life we find that Jesus bleed 7 times. In the garden (Luke 22:44) . When they plucked His beard and slap Him across His cheeks (Isaiah 53:5). They beat His back (Isaiah 53:5 and Matthew 27:29). The thorns in His head (Matthew 27:29). The blood flows as the nail pierce His hands - Crucified Him (Matthew 27:35). They drive a nail in His feet - Crucified Him (Matthew 27:35).
Finally, they pierce His side and blood and water flowed out (John 19:34).
    3. The joy that kept Him going. Revelation 13:10-11 What does all this mean for us? In the Garden of Prayer He shed blood to give us dominion over our selfish will. He was slapped, beaten and bruised on His face to give us victory over identity issues and inherit weaknesses. He took the stripes on His back for the healing of our body. He felt the pain of the thorns so that our minds might be made whole. The nails were driven through His hands so that the work of our hands might be blessed.
The nails were driven through His feet to empower us to walk in righteousness.
The blood and water flowed from His side so that the church might be born and stand at the gates of hell and hell not prevail.
