    The Key to Overcoming Rejection
    Sunday, March 6, 2016
Hebrews 4:15 reminds us that Jesus Christ understands our day-to-day problems because He has faced every situation that you and I could ever face. Isaiah 53:3 - Prophesy that Jesus would be rejected. At the Last Supper (Matthew 26) Jesus saw it coming and prophesied that they would all leave Him but both Judas and Peter would openly and blatantly reject Him as their friend and leader. In Matthew 26:47-56 Judas comes with the kiss of the betrayal. Matthew 26:56 - All His disciples rejected Him. In Matthew 26:69-75 when Jesus was going through the mockery of a trial Peter was in the courtyard and denied ever knowing Jesus - Not once or twice but three times, just as Jesus had prophesied This is real rejection but there is also perceived rejection. When Jesus is taken captive, dies and finally buried John 20:19 tells us that they locked themselves behind closed doors, questioned everything and felt completely betrayed by Jesus. What gave Jesus the strength or energy to go through the rejection and still accomplish redemption for you and I? Jesus understood WHO He was and WHERE he was going. This is IDENTITY and PURPOSE.
Your identity cannot be determined by the acceptance or rejection of the people around you.
The 2 greatest days of your life is… The day your are born.
The day you find out why you were born.
A lack of identity and purpose causes us to fall into the trap of rejection or perceived rejection. How do we get out? If you want to break free from rejection you must begin right now rejecting the idea (true or perceived) of rejection. James 4:7 - Reject the Rejection

Sunday, February 21, 2016 1 Thessalonians 4:9-12 Since the inception of the church of Jesus Christ, one of the litmus tests for genuine faith has been that a community of believers love one another. John 13:34-35 This is new commandment because it brings the love of Jesus int the equation - a servant-like selfless love. The writers of the New Testament believed that loving one another was a true mark of Christianity. Romans 12:9-13 2 John 1:5-6
    Hebrews 13:1
    1 Peter 4:8-9
1 Corinthians 13:1-2 Love literally changes your whole identity and who you are. It is crucial that you love one another, that you are a loving person, especially in terms of the way that you operate in your spiritual gifts. Galatians 5:13-14 One of the primary expressions of genuine love is serving. In John 13 we find Jesus at the Last Supper washing feet and talking to the disciples about loving one another. Foot Washing is not about a moment in time or an event that happens once a year.  This is about a lifestyle of loving on another and serving one another. Let me show you how this idea works counter to our culture. The culture of America strives for success.  The culture of the Kingdom is meant to be one of significance. Philippians 2:1-8 Disunity or division is created through selfishness or A self-centered lifestyle. Unity is found when each of us find our place in the body and love, serve, and give into that body.

    Series: Do You Love
Sunday, February 14, 2016 God gives us the only true picture of what marriage is supposed to look like. Book Referenced - Love-ology - John Mark Comer The first reason for marriage - Genesis 2:18 - God wants us to have companionship. The second reason for marriage - Genesis 2:15 - God put Adam and Eve in a garden and commissioned them to work it and take care of it. The third piece to God’s marriage picture -
Genesis 2:25 - They also lived open and vulnerable lives as lovers.
The fourth reason for marriage -
Genesis 1:27-28  -  God wanted Adam and Eve to have a family. The fifth reason for marriage - 2 Corinthians 5:17-19  -  In that process of re-creation God has empowered us to be agents of reconciliation. Marriage is not about finding the right person, because there is no right person. No matter who you marry, there will be hard days ahead. You marry someone because you believe in what God is doing in their life and you want to be a part of what you see through the eyes of God!

    Series: Do You Love
Sunday, February 7, 2016 John 14:15-18 We find three parts to this particular teaching- The connection between love and obedience (critical covenants). The promise of power to obey (Holy Spirit).
The reason we want to obey, we are not orphans (Children of promise).
    1. Love and Obedience equals a Covenant.  Covenant’s are good things. Deuteronomy 7:9 Deuteronomy 10:12-13 Heart Covenant Head Covenant
    Job 31:1 / 1 Peter 1:13-16
    C.  Financial Covenant
    Malachi 3:8-12
    2. The Holy Spirit empowers us to obey. Too many are trying in the flesh to overcome the flesh. John 14:16 Jesus referred to the HELPER and confirmed that He would abide with us and in us forever. 3. Jesus said, “I will not leave you orphans…” Matthew 7:7-11 Everything we need sits behind the door of obedience. Do You Love God?
